Root canal therapy is a simple and routine procedure that is designed to save your natural tooth, avoiding the need to extract it. If the centre of your tooth, called the dental pulp, becomes diseased due to trauma, deep tooth decay, cracks or a previously filled deep filling, this can cause pain and infection. Left untreated, this infection can spread, necessitating the complete removal of the tooth and even some of the localised bone.

Dr Billy Kim performs root canal therapy to restore the correct function of the affected tooth, retaining as much of its natural structure as possible. The diseased pulp is removed under local anaesthetic and the tooth is then sealed with a root filling. Root canals are a safe and painless procedure that is significantly more affordable than extracting the tooth and replacing it with a dental implant, denture or a bridge.
